Unscrupulous gangs that made millions selling bogus designer sports gear, watches, handbags and perfume are now faking delicacies such as caviar and superstrength vodka. These dangerous fakes are turning up all over Britain. Last month Leeds magistrates fined Gatecrasher Clubs and Bars Limited for selling industrial alcohol as vodka at a student freshers’ week event. Trading standards officers found 656 litres of fake spirit labelled “Premium” vodka. It contained dangerous chemicals, including chloroform.
Last November a 51-year-old man was warned he could go blind after drinking a bottle of counterfeit Arctic Ice vodka bought from a shop in Tamworth, Staffordshire. Read full article from here.
