The owners of a Sheffield cafe have been fined £6,000 after a three-year-old child nearly swallowed a knife blade while eating a scoop of ice cream.
The child spat out the blade into her grandmother’s hand and although she was not physically injured was ‘clearly distressed’. The incident, which occurred in March last year at the Love Coffee cafe in The Gallery, Meadowhall, was investigated by EHO Simon Elliott from Sheffield City Council’s Health Protection Service (HPS).
